About this Property

This is a rare opportunity to own a former wine merchant property, situated in a secluded hamlet hidden amongst the rolling hills of beautiful Tarn countryside in South-West France.

This piece of paradise offers complete privacy and tranquility. In a privileged, elevated position, it enjoys far-reaching views of the ancient lands surrounding Cordes sur Ciel, one of the "Beaux Villages of France" and is just a 30-minute drive from the bustling city of Albi, a UNESCO world heritage site.

This property has an enchanting and enclosed courtyard with private gardens and a swimming pool to the rear. There are 2 indpependant properties. The first is an exceptional 2 bedroom residence with a spectacular medieval hall and library of 100m2. Currently known as “the artist's retreat” this property with its stunning hall is frequently used by visiting established artists to work, relax and regenerate.

There is potential (subject to normal permissions) to convert the ground floor stables and covered terraces into further living space.

Attached to this property is an independent 2 bedroom apartment with a raised terrace and amazing views across the fields and woodland beyond.

This property must be seen to fully appreciate its potential. Book your visit today.

Stretching from the vibrant Toulouse area down to the Pyrénées and the Spanish border, this region is one of the most varied, offering a vast choice of property styles and surroundings.  The impressive rivers of the north and east of the region, the mountain backdrop of the south and the welcoming open vistas of the Gers in the west - it really does have a little of everything.

Testimonials

    Testimonial by Andrew Cotton

Having decided to go ahead with our plan to buy an investment property in France, we initially tracked the market across a number of websites and across a wide area covering the Dordogne and the Lot regions. It quickly became clear that the responses we received from the Beaux Villages team were the most helpful and, based on some discussions about what we were looking for, we were able to put an initial viewing trip together. Based on this viewing trip, we narrowed the geographic area of our search and Beaux Villages became the leading agent we spoke to, including arranging some visits to see properties that were not exclusively listed with them, which made the viewing trips easy to arrange and manage. After a second viewing trip, we found our dream property, albeit at a price which was a little over our budget. At this point, the Beaux Villages team helped us navigate the process of understanding what the different stages of the offer and purchasing process would be, what the fees for each aspect would be and allowed us to put together an offer which was rejected initially, but some months later secured us a property we are really pleased, and sometimes a little amazed, to now own. Without the input of Judith Whitlow [, and her husband Kevin,] we would have not had the confidence to navigate the process successfully. Their input, from the initial offer all the way through to the couple of weeks after our purchase went through (when dealing with some of the issues which arise when buying a property abroad), was clear, pragmatic and incredibly helpful. Based on their experience having lived in France for some time and the clarification they could therefore offer on issues which were sometimes difficult to understand and assess, we felt very comfortable making decisions about what is a very significant investment for us. I warmly recommend Judith to anyone considering purchasing a property in France – without them, we would have had a much more difficult time getting to completion.
